The mission of the Washington Regional Fire & Rescue Departments Aluminum Cans for Burned Children is to prevent burns and improve the quality of life for young burn survivors and their families by providing funding for research, annual therapeutic residential burn camps, and other year round activities that support their physical, psychological, and social needs.
Our program provides funding for the following activities that assists young burn survivors to meet our program mission:
ACBC sponsors children annually from the Washington Metropolitan area to attend local burn camps. ACBC also provides school supplies, backpacks, beach towels, and water bottles to each child that attend camp.
ACBC awards a graduation gift to children who stay involved with local burn camps
ACBC sponsors an annual Holiday Party with Children's Hospital for young burn survivors and their families at Centreville Mini Golf & Games.
We continue our support and assist with Children's Medical Center, Washington, D.C. to provide funding to assistance pediatric burn patients and their families.
Members of area Fire & Rescue Department's served as counselors at Burn Camp and two (2) ACBC Board Members served also as camp counselors, again this year.
